For Personal Shipments (Vehicles)
BEFORE DEPARTURE to the United States
An ISF filing is required for all ocean shipments into the US. It must be filed at least 24 hours prior to departure to the US. Late filings can result in a penalty of up to $10,000. An ISF is not required for air shipments. We can submit the ISF with the following documents.
The Customs Power of Attorney grants us permission to act on your behalf with customs. For importers relocating to the United States mainland, your US mainland address should be reported on your Customs Power of Attorney. (Provided by Heizwerthy.)
When completing the Customs Entry Form, the foreign address (even if relocating from the US Virgin Islands) is the address you are relocating from. The US Address is the address you are moving to. (Provided by Heizwerthy.)
A legible copy of a valid government photo ID is required. (Provided by the importer. Submit with completed documents to customerservice@heizwerthy.com)
At minimum, we will need the master bill and/or the house bill (if applicable). (Provided by the carrier to the importer. Submit with completed documents to customerservice@heizwerthy.com)
As proof of ownership of the vehicle, we will need a copy of the title in the importer’s name or a letter of authorization to ship from the lien holder. (Provided by the importer. Submit with completed documents to customerservice@heizwerthy.com)
In order to file the ISF, we must have complete details. If all of the above information has been provided, this will be sufficient to file the ISF. We cannot file the ISF without complete details.

If you cannot obtain any of the above, the shipment is treated as commercial and the applicable customs duty and fees are payable to US Customs & Border Protection. The fees are based on the value of the vehicle. View Items for Proof Of Export in the Resource Center.
We will complete the EPA form on your behalf using the Vehicle Verification form you completed in the Customs Entry Packet.
We will complete the DOT form on your behalf using the Vehicle Verification form you completed in the Customs Entry Packet.
We will obtain the value of your vehicle from the SLI (shipper’s letter of instruction) or the Customs Entry Form you provided in the Customs Entry Packet.
We will need a copy of the final bill of lading provided to you by the ocean carrier when the vessel ships to the United States.
24-72 hours prior to the vessel arriving in the United States, the ocean carrier will provide an arrival notice. We will need this notice to process your customs clearance.
